Dear Heights Families, It is hard to believe we are already heading into the end of October! The first semester of school is flying by, and we are so proud of all our students for their love of learning and curiosity, their energy, and acts of kindness they bring to school each day. As the fall season fills our hallways with excitement, we have many meaningful and fun events coming up that we cannot wait to share with you. We are currently celebrating Red Ribbon Week from October 20th to 31st, a special time to encourage healthy choices and positive lifestyles. Next week, Laredo ISD, together with Local Law Enforcement Agencies, School Transportation & Mass Transit, will be celebrating America’s Safe School and National School Bus Safety on Monday, October 20, 2025, with an exciting Parade Lineup beginning at 9:00 AM. Students are encouraged to wear a red shirt. Also, LISD Food Nutrition Department will be officially kicking off the 2025 – 2026 Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program! On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Heights Elementary will kick -off this celebration by having a parade. Those students who would like to dress-up like their favorite fruit or vegetable are welcome to do so. Each day, students are participating in themed dress-up days and activities that promote kindness, confidence, and taking care of our minds and bodies. Right around the corner, we’ll kick off Children’s Book Week starting November 3rd, a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading! We encourage all students to dive into a new story, share their favorite books, and spend extra time reading at home. Let us continue to build a strong reading habit—books can take us anywhere! On November 11, 2025, we will honor Veterans Day with classroom discussions and activities that help our students understand the importance of service and gratitude. We thank all the veterans in our school community, especially Mr. Gilberto Rios for their bravery and dedication. As always, we encourage families to stay connected by checking our school website and social media pages regularly for the latest event details, photos, and updates so that you do not miss a thing! Sincerely yours, Ms. Adriana Padilla Principal, Heights Elementary School
