Principal's Message

Message from the Principal

Dear Hawks Family,

Once again, we have come to the close of another remarkable and very memorable school year for Heights Elementary School, a National Blue Ribbon campus. Time really went by fast throughout the school year as we had students learning from home through virtual lessons and students who attended school on-site. Teachers, teacher-aides, students, parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents were involved in both types of learning. I cannot thank you enough for the amazing efforts made and the support and patience shown by all in continuing to adapt to this new way of teaching and learning.

On-site learning will continue through our varied school program, which begins on June 2, 2021, and ends on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Many of your children were recommended to attend the program for either additional assistance or for providing your children an insight into what they will expect to learn as they go on to the next grade level. Students in PK4 – K may also have been recommended for the Bilingual Summer school program, which also begins on Wednesday, June 2nd and runs through Friday – June 25th. The schedule for this program is from 8:00 am – 3:10 pm, Monday through Friday. In addition to the regular summer school offerings, a Jump Start Program is scheduled for Monday, July 26th – August 6th from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. This program is for students recently promoted to 1st – 5th grade for 21-22 school year that will benefit from an early introduction to Reading, Math and/or Science curriculum, struggling learners, and students who did not participate on a regular basis during the 2020-2021 school year. If you have questions regarding any summer school, please feel free to contact the school at (956)273-3600. The Child Nutrition Program’s, Grab n’ Go Meals will continue over the summer from 10:00 - 12:00. Please take advantage of this wonderful program.

Report cards are available through the Skyward School Portal; however, official copies of your child/children’s report card(s) are available at the school. Please feel free to come by and pick them up.

In closing, it was an honor and privilege having your children at Heights Elementary School. I hope that your children have had a memorable year. We thank you for entrusting your children to us. Please continue to listen for updates about the beginning of the school year. I hope that you have an enjoyable, restful, safe, and healthy summer. Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or suggestions. Always remember that we “Heights Strong” and together we will continue to take on every challenge and meet it head-on. See you soon!
